Peter's Views: $1 airfares; 100% tariff Chinese TVs; Big consumer debt; USA Debate

Peter discusses what Canadians are talking about today...an American Presidential debate where the two sides are trying to reach agreement on whether or not an opponent's microphone should be muted while a candidate is responding to a question. That's how it was done when Trump and Biden were debating...guess it didn't turn out too well for Biden.

The Chinese make a very cheap electric vehicle. Prime Minister Trudeau doesn't want them in Canada undercutting our manufacturers and workers...so he matched the Americans and slapped a 100% tariff on the Chinese cars. Peter figures EVs are like fax machines were...25 years and we have other technology.

Consumer debt is spiking to the highest levels in 17 years. Blame COVID. And the Bank of Canada. And mortgages that went at <2% in 2020 and are up for renewal at 5%+.

And Flair Airlines becomes the first airline to offer one-way tickets at $1. Don't get excited until you see what it costs to go back!
